Auction Success, £1,500 Raised for The London & Slough Run

Staff, locals and a handful of ebay dealers filled the showroom at Henley Safe Storage on Saturday 29th September to bid for some fantastic bargains at the Channel Advantage Auction.
It was a unique opportunity to acquire a selection of sofas, chairs, white goods, PCs and accessories from The Retreat Training Academy and former office in Stonor Park. Various volunteers helped set up from 8.30am; viewing started at 12.30pm; and the real action kicked off at 2pm with over 138 lots to get through in just over an hour and a half.

After a slightly disappointing start with bidders placing exceptionally low bids on some seriously fantastic items, there were some fiercely contested lots including the leather sofas and the 64inch Plasma screens.

Practically evey person drove away with something, plus a smile on their face – knowing they had a bargain and that local charity London and Slough Run had benefitted from 50% of the proceeds from the bids.

John Power, Finance Director at Channel Advantage and representative from the charity said, “It was good to see so many people turn out and help support such a great cause. It was great to see all the items go to good homes rather than remain in storage gathering dust. Huge thanks to everyone who helped out – and especially those that bought something!”.

Special thanks goes to our Auctioneer Christopher Claxton Stevens who gave up his day to help organise the event. Christopher is a Consultant in Antique and Contemporary Furniture based at 24 Shandon Road, London SW4 9HR.
